Sailing Strange Waters

Hear you the song of dusk, the calls of the crows and the rustling of leaves in the evening breeze. Hear you the sounds as the world goes fitfully to sleep and the night life awakens to perform its chants and its rituals under the full moon. Shut your eyes, and set sail upon the strange waters beyond waking.

Feel you the weaving of dreams by the moon magic, the prophecies of the stars echoing in the strange waters of unconscious minds throughout the lands. How the waters in the mind churn and render to the mind’s eye the secrets whispered in the heavens! Can these minds approximate what the stars design? Can they truly know?

Not when reflected in the mirror of the waking mind, for the secrets of heaven are utter nonsense to those who still think in mortal terms. Discard, then, the mortal delusion, and see truly, for only in so doing can you divine the plots of the stars or the purposes of gods. Only in this may one understand the meanings of dreams.

But now a warning: if you would see your dreams truly, see that you also discard all fear. The mortal fear is the belief in death. To discard the mortal delusion is to shed the belief in death.

Can you still fear if you believe not in death? If you have never witnessed death, it is only faith that explains how the departed are no more, interred in the earth as they are. If you have seen death, however, then you truly know terror.

But this is not all, for there lurks a terror beyond even this. When the mortal delusion has been cast aside and one wakes up from the dream, a new horror will appear. There is a terror beyond death which no mortal can either abide or conceive. Mercifully so, at that, for such dread is the true shape of horror, and those who are unprepared shall be consumed therewith.

If you would see truly, you must cast aside all fear, else you are no seer at all.
